Welcome To The Finest Belly Dancers in Durban
In March 2010 she also attended a 3 day workshop held by the infamous Ansuya. The
course incorporated Bellydance Cabaret, Bellydance Fusion (including Indian, Spanish,
African, Gypsy and Tribal) and Belly dancing with props including Finger Cymbals,
Veil, Candles, Fan, Cane and Sword.
More recently in 2011 she completed a 2 day workshop with the wonderful Danisa from
Argentina and further honed her skills in Oriental dancing, including the popular
Shaabi style of dancing.
The studio has grown over the years and classes are held in Hillcrest, Kloof, Westville and Berea.
Alison is assisted by Sam Eades who is an absolute expert in Tribal Dancing having attended many
workshops in this genre.
BellyFusion boasts a beautiful performance group who have performed at many high profile
functions and stage shows.
All of this success has been a gift to Alison and she has chosen to
"pay it forward" by making a difference to some very worthy causes.
Funds raised from their Annual Showcase have benefited organisations such
as Childline, Ekaya Labomi Aids Hospice, Bobbi Bears, The Open Door Crisis
Centre, Faiths Paradise and more recently the R.H.I.N.O Fund.
Alison has been teaching the art of Belly Dancing since 2002 (having had formal training in ballet
and modern dance).
After attending workshops in Gauteng and Cape Town she opened her first studio in Hillcrest,
Kwa-Zulu Natal and has since studied different styles, including American Cabaret, Egyptian Pop,
Tribal and Classical Egyptian belly dancing (Oriental Dancing). To further enhance her dancing skills she
has gone onto learn the basics of Bollywood, Bhangra, Spanish, Hula and Latin American dancing,
all of which she has successfully fuzed with the intrigues of belly dancing – thus living up to the name of
BellyFusion!
After attending a workshop with the renowned Hadia - www.hadia.com - she was inspired to do Hadia's
internationally recognised Teaching Training Courses (levels 1 and 2) in Middle Eastern Dancing, held in Bali
in April 2008.
She acquired invaluable teaching skills and brought back some exciting technique and choreography.
Hadia's focus on anatomy and physiology is essential to all teachers.
